I'm So Sexy Yeah!!!

Wowzers!!! Imaginarians I cannot believe this, but yours truly has won Sexiest Female Author at the 2011 Movie 411 Awards. I feel like singing, but I promise not to make your ears bleed and dogs come running. To all of you out there who nominated, then voted for me, you have made my entire month and I cannot even begin to find the right words to express the depth of my gratitude. This has done wonders for my spirit, which has taken a beating these last weeks. I love you so much!!

Briefcase Encounters: A Review And Some Cool News For A Change

Yes, Imaginarians, I have had a time of it, but while things are still very dark, there is finally a little teeny tiny crack of light. Your continued support means the world to me. I just wanted to make to tell you that I'm not stopping blogging or anything, just have to drop out every now and again to ride the waves. It'll be like that for the foreseeable future, but I've got my head up and I should be okay.

Check this. Oh. My. God. I am Top at The Movie411 Awards for Sexiest Female Author. Nothing like being called sexiest when the world is off-kilter and careening out of control. You can vote here for moi, if you so choose, but most importantly just get your fine selves over there and vote for your fave cinegeeks, cinephiles and fellow wicked awesome bloggers. It's a hellagood party.

Now on to this review. I am very excited Imaginarians, because one of my favorite authors, Alexander Hammond, has just released a new collection of tales. Brief(case) Encounters is a witty, thought-provoking and self-effacing collection of travel stories that will have you howling with laughter and picking your jaw up off the floor all within the space a few paragraphs. Part erudite comedian, part no-holds-barred tour guide with a slice of philosopher and a dash of cultural anthropologist mixed in, Encounters offers a unique take on world travel.

Hammond has a way with language that just leaves me green with envy. His metaphors are true gems that paint an exact picture without ever straying into the realm of cliché or over use. For instance in Thai Tribulations, one of my favorites, he is on board a vomit comet of a boat in very rough seas, hiding up on deck to keep away from the seasick. He writes “Eventually my bladder asserted itself and I made my way to the conveniences, forgetting that I had to pass through the ‘sick room.’ I took one look. It was a Hogarth etching come to life, a vision Gustave Dore would have been proud to have created… People were lying around groaning on the floor beyond caring what they looked like. I regret to confess that natural compassion escaped me in that moment. I immediately forgot my own physical needs and returned to the deck, profoundly grateful I wasn’t one of them.” Oh God, what an image.

This book is chock full of these hilarious, nightmarish anecdotes that leave you with the dichotomy of wanting to never board a plane and yet, also having the unbearable desire to experience this stuff in person to see if it's real. News and Musings

I am bubbling over and want to share some amazing news with you all. Drum roll...My newest story, Byzantine Provocateur will be out from Amber Quill Press on March 6. Yay!! When I finished the edits and sent it off, I could barely contain my relief and excitement. Still can't. One more week! I also have four more stories in the works and I hope to have them completed by the end of the year.

Second piece of good news: the awesome Dempsey Sanders has invited me to be a permanent guest writer at The Movie411. Whoo Hoo!! I had a hellagood time reviewing Tron: Legacy and The Green Hornet and I have some wicked cool ideas already percolating in my brain. Hmmm...I wonder if Dempsey knows what he's getting into? :)



That's it for now. I'm going to relax this weekend and watch the Oscars. I love to see who's wearing what designer and snark about the worst dressed. I have my handy dandy Oscar ballot ready with all my picks filled and I know that they probably do not align with anyone else's, but I did pick the right Best Picture 4 years in a row now so we'll see if I'm right this year with The King's Speech. Will I keep the streak alive? Do you even really care? LOL Have a wonderful weekend.

2011: Goals, New Beginnings and Other Plans

Happy New Year!!! Time for me to set my goals and promise myself to become more organized, healthier, more organized, better with money, more organized...Can you tell I need to get more organized?

Aside from curbing my penchant for chaos, it's that time of year where I look over my story ideas, my writing commitments and my schedule then decide what I will be putting out over the next twelve months. This last year I released my first novel, Maxie Briscoe: Werewolf, started a blog, wrote several features and reviews and started participating in a horror blog called Dead End. And, and I finished a story I had started a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Whoo Hoo!!

This year I have a historical erotic tale I'm currently working on, a zombie tale, a sequel to Michael's Keeper and am in the planning stages of a sequel to Maxie. I also have planned an erotic sci fi trilogy. I would also like to bring you all more here at the Imaginarium with author spotlights, book reviews, discussions and a free read or three.

I am also planning to step into the realm of Twitter. Keep your fingers crossed as I am very intimidated by this social media, but the time has come. I'll let you all know what my Twitter handle is shortly.

I am very pleased to announce that I will be doing some contributing to a wicked cool film blog called The Movie 411. Dempsey Sanders is the editor and creator of this amazing site and I urge you all to visit often. He has really interesting features, reviews and just everything you've ever wanted to know about the movies.

I also want to get healthier. I am a Type 2 diabetic and would love to reach a very ripe old age so that means I will be working hard to keep my condition under much more ruthless control. Plus I've slacked off in my weight-loss. I haven't gained weight, but neither have I continued to lose so that behavior is stopping. My ultimate long-term goals are to climb up the pyramids at Tikal, hike to the summit of Mount Fuji and run a marathon. Not this year of course, but within the next five or six years so I've got to get my rear in gear and really start hitting the exercise routine.

I also want to be much better off financially speaking. Which means I have to be better at marketing myself, have a better understanding of money and have a steady source of income. This is going to be tough, but it needs to be done.

I found a great quote and it says "If I bring forth what is inside of me, what I bring forth will save me." I know we can reach our goals Imaginarians. Here's to a successful 2011 for us all!!
