It's All Fun And Games Blogfest

Oh Captain, my captain, Alex J. Cavanaugh is hosting a really fun blogfest all about our fave games, called appropriately Shall We Play A Game? Being a bit of a gamester, I could not resist. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the other participants and see what games we like to play board, video, mind and otherwise. ;)

Bowling
God do I love to bowl. I am not very good, but I have a hellagood time at the lanes. I have elaborate moves that would make ol' twinkle-toes Fred Flinstone jealous. I go as often as I can and it is a wonder my toes haven't fallen off from all the rented shoes I've exposed them to. My fingers, too, from all those house balls. Still, I can't help myself.

I even play Wii bowling and gleefully crush my nephews.

Pac-Man

I have been addicted to this game since it first appeared way back when. I can't get enough of Blinky and crew. Do not ever come between me and this game when I am at level holy-shit-they're-moving-too-fast and I'm trying to get to the pellet that will allow me to eat the ghosts. I just might rip your throat out ala Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse.

Trivial Pursuit

I love trivia and this game has been feeding my need for the last two decades. I love knowing obscure facts and it makes me a very interesting party guest. Or a big giant nerd depending on your interpretation. What I'm saying is my head is a font of useless information. Like did you know that the 1960's series Lost In Space was set in 1997? Al Capone was called Snorky by his closest friends?

I could go on, but my geek is showing and I do want you to come back again. Have a great time visiting the other blogs.

  1. I haven't played any of these in years, but I like all 3, Trivial Pursuit most of all.
My friends and I played TP a lot when we were in college.

My order of preference: brown - yellow - green - blue - pink - orange (I so hated the sports questions).

  2. @Siv Cool! These games are fun, aren't they?

@K.C. Hi! Oh how I hated those sports questions, too. Especially because I never got ones about sports I knew, only ones I knew absolutely nothing about, which is like 95%. LOL

  3. I've never been bowling, but I have a feeling some bowling alleys might get ruined if I start some day :)

  4. I bowled a lot as a kid. My parents still do. And I'm always up for a trivia game!
Thanks for participating in the blogfest.

  5. I forgot all about bowling. Another fun game to play with family and friends. Add in a few beers and its a cheap night out loaded with fun.

  6. *fist bumps* for Trivial Pursuit!

Bowling is so much fun too... but only cuz I love sliding around in those groovy shoes.

P.S. i <3 that you called Alex "oh Captain." :)

  7. Bowling! How did I forget bowling! I love to bowl. I am better at trivia pursuit as part of a team--I have a lousy memory mostly, but i remember really odd things, so if i have a partner, I can hold up my own pretty well.

  8. Ha, awesome list, Mel! Pac-man is a classic!

I love playing bowling, and I'm pretty good at it. My first-ever shot was a STRIKE. Hell, yeah! :)

  9. I can't count the number of hourse I spent in fromt of the pac man machine. great choice

  10. I did NOT know Lost in Space was set in 1997. Holy cow am I old!

Bowling and I do not get along. I'm glad to know you've kept all those fingers & toes though. I've never really been a Pac Man player, but I like the idea of Pac Man, know what I mean?

  11. I love bowling! I can't believe I forgot that one. And my husband and I love playing Trivial Pursuit.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I feel the same way about Mario Kart: Double Dash that you do about Pac-Man, even though I haven't played Mario Kart in ages.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I love your picks; I want to go bowling. They don't have candlepin in the south! Pacman...oh, yes!
    Fun to read!

  14. Great choices! Your enthusiasm has me wishing I joined in on the "Fun and Games Blogfest."

What separates bowling from others forms of entertainment is The Big Lebowski. Every time I bowl with friends, I pretend I'm a Lebowski character. Some of my friends partake in the inane exercise.

Pac-Man, along with Tetris and some other breakthrough games, started it all. Wonderful choice.

And Trivial Pursuit is the shiz-nit! I'm all about household games. Dominate as I must, I'm sure we'd have some classic barnburners.

  15. I loved Pac Man, but I'm SO not good at Trivial Pursuit. I'm a new follower. Love your blog. :)

  16. My kids love to go bowling. It's fun.

  17. I like Pac Man too ... I'm old enough to remember when it first came out and was all the rage. So was Donkey Kong, back then. I do like playing Bejeweled now.

I never did well at bowling, and even took it for PE in high school. Those were the days, when schools had enough money to offer such things.

    Have a great week!

    Kathy M.

  18. Three for three on these! I lost track of the hours I spent playing Pac-Man. Come to think of it, I might have lost a small fortune in quarters to it, too.

    ReplyDelete
  19. girl! you should totally invest in your own pair of bowling shoes! thems are stylin'!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I love all three! We also have Wii bowling, and man, your arms get so sore after playing for a long time! But, very fun. ;)

Pac-Man of course--who doesn't like it? Very addicting!

    ReplyDelete
  21. As soon as I saw PacMan I started hearing the bleep, bleep bleeps and they won't go away. It's all good, though. Fun games!
    Cheers.

  22. Wawca wawca wawca. I miss those old arcade games. They were so much fun.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Two for three -- but, a moment of silence for the greatest, Pac Man! Oh, but the time slips away!

    ReplyDelete
  24. What a fantastic list!! I love all three of these games!

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Ellie Thanks!Isn't Pac Man awesome? I'm totally addicted once I start.

@Dez You and I should go bowling together. We'd make an incredibly stylish and super cool team.

@Alex Thank you Captain. This was great! Trivia and bowling make my world go round. Well tequila and movies, too. LOL

@Stephen Beer is why bowling is the best participatory sport ever.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Pk We would make awesome trivia partners I think. And yes, those shoes are certainly stylin'

I could not resist the Whitman line. It seemed so appropriate.

@Hart I'll partner with you. We'd kick butt, I'm sure of it. And I love bowling, though why I've never improved, I'll chalk it up to I've never been serious just in for the fun.

@Nebular Way to go!! You lucky dog, a strike the first time out. High five! Mine was a series of gutter balls, each more spectacular than the last. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  27. @baygirl Thanks! I think the Atomic clock is the only timepiece able to count my hours in front of Pac Man. LOL

@Nicki Hi! I was stunned when I learned that tidbit about Lost In Space. It's kind of funny, too seeing how far we were tech wise in 1997. LOL I still don't know how I managed to keep my digits. I guess the alleys I've been going to have upped their standards.

@Clarissa No worries! I've been seeing lots of games around here that I've forgotten all about. It's fun going down memory lane, though.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Jeffrey Mario Kart ruled! My nephew has a re-issued version of this for Wii and I love getting into a game with him.

@Ella I'm so glad you enjoyed my picks. I hope you get to go bowling some time soon. :)

@Matt The Big Lebowski! How fun that you play the characters. I'd play along, too.

Tetris was another addiction at one point.

You and I in a trivia throw down would be epic.

  29. @Ciara Hi! And welcome. Thanks for the follow. I'm so glad you like my little corner of the blogosphere. I can't believe I'm still so into Pac Man. It's a great stress reliever, though. :)

@Ra Shelle I take my nephews and they have a total blast.

@Oregon Gifts Thanks, Kathy! I remember those arcade games like Donkey Kong there used to be a place here called Friar Tuck's Gaming, where we would all hang out and play Pac Man etc.

I wish schools would offer more of a range of PE courses like bowling.

Hope you have a wonderful week as well.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Bryce Glad you liked my choices. I think I lost a small country's GDP in quarters to Pac Man. LOL

@aspiring x You are so right. I need me some super cool bowling shoes.

@cherie Heck yeah your arms get tired with that Wii, but it so much fun. The nephews have a blast. It's fun watching them attempt real bowling and have to compensate for the weight of a ball.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Robyn Yes that Pac Man soundtrack really stays with you and it never goes away LOL.

@MPax LOL I love the wawca, wawca...arcades had their own music. Annoying, but a unique, fun sound.

@Nicole Bowling is one of the best, most fun activities. It's great to get a group together and go to the lanes.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Kittie Time sure does slip away. I can't believe how old my beloved ghost eater game is. :)

@M.J. Thanks! These games are just so much fun. I could never give them up. I think I'll avoid senility if I keep playing Trivial Pursuit. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  33. Bowling and Pac Man, does it get any better?
What is it with writers ad trivia?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love bowling! It's truely one of my favorite things. The sport seems to be catching on...lately the lanes have been packed every night. If you don't resevre a lane, forget it.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yay for Pac-man! Thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Clearly, you just like games where the goal is to have nothing left but a circle. In bowling, all pins down and only the ball left standing. In Pac-Man, all dots and ghosts, eaten, just a sated yellow circle (with its mouth closed). In Trivial Pursuit, a completed pie.

I think I'm on to something here. That, or perhaps I'm off my meds again...

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Giggles I can't think of many thing better than these two games. :)I don't know the trivia thing, Mary. Maybe we writers too much info left over in our heads after research. :)

@Raising Isn't bowling great? It does seem to be enjoying a resurgence. We have to reserve lanes at some of the places around here and they just opened a high end bowling alley on the Chicago River.

@kelworth files Hi! Pac Man rules my roost for sure. LOL

@Nate You know, I never thought about it like that. Brilliant notion! Perhaps I have a thing for the neverending...Hmm Stuff to ponder when I've had too much of an illegal substance. :)
