My good friend, Siv, over at Been There, Done That is celebrating her first blogoversary this month with a Troll Fest. She was curious about her followers and how and why we started blogging. Isn't that just the coolest? What a great pillar of the community she is. Below is what I posted on my first Imaginarium post way back on June 25, 2010.
Welcome one and all to my little corner of the Net, The Imaginarium, a crossroads where the imagination meets the intellect. Pull up a chair, stay awhile, take a look at my work while you're here. You never know what might happen.
So how did all this come about, you might be wondering? I wanted a place to fully express my creativity and to indulge my passion for all things books and writing. I also wanted a place where I could discuss anything under the sun. So here I am at this wonderful new blog.
I hope you'll stop by whenever you can to see what's going on. One day there could be a hot movie discussion, another, an author interview, maybe an excerpt, perhaps even a free story or three.
That sounds so nice doesn't it? I think I've turned into a blogging monster with all my rants, reviews, and other wide-ranging topics. I was so tentative and now, it is all out there. I've come a very long way since this first post. Words cannot express how happy I am that I stuck my toe into the shallows, then plunged into the deep end. I am so thankful for all my friends, followers, readers and anyone who clicks over here for even a minute. You have given me a tremendous gift.
Melissa, you never rant!
ReplyDeleteMy first post said hi I'm Alex and this is my blog. Yeah, man of few words.
I am just so sedate, right? LMAO! It's funny thinking about what we wrote when we first started our blogs. When I reread this post, I thought, wow, this does not sound like me at all anymore. :)
DeleteThat's a really good first post. Shows your humble beginnings.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Richard! I hadn't looked at this post since I first wrote it and it was good to remember how I started.
DeleteOh, that was nice. I think my first post was something like "it must be going to snow in hell because I finally decided to blog". LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer. And I love that first post of yours. Very catchy. ;)
DeleteI remember the old look of your blog, I loved it, it was all black and red and sexy and naughty. I think you lost that part of your visual image here with the current design, which is nice, but the designer didn't put your personality in it and that was his mistake.
ReplyDeleteLove those two trolls, so cute :)
Well you know, Dez, the naughty can only get me so far. ;) I had no idea you loved my old design so much.
DeleteAren't those trolls just the cutest? I have only ever seen the wild-haired little dolls, but Siv really has some adorable little guys.
I did, I think that design was what caught my eye in the first place, and then we became best friends :) That one was soooo you. You need spice and hotness here, some naked muscles in the background :)
DeleteLove your blog and glad to see "it's all out there". Please continue to let your words flow. They keep me honest.:)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sloane! We keep each other honest. ;)
DeleteAhh, that was a very nice and cute post Melissa. Very down to earth and inviting:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Marta! I'm happy you enjoyed reading it. It is nice to go back and look at how much my writing style has changed. I had no idea what I was doing back then. :)
DeleteThe truth and nothing but the truth! You still talk, write and blog about all kinds of things on a regular basis, and you're still one of the very few bloggers who never forgets a blog and always leave your comments.
ReplyDeleteShame on me who sometimes forgets to check your blog. Mea culpa, mea maxima culpa! :)
Keep up the great work, Mel. We need you and we love you! :)
No worries Maynard! I truly appreciate each and every one of your comments here. I love your blog and am so very glad we connected.
DeleteAnd thank you so very much. Your words mean a lot.
I'm pretty sure my first blog post coincided with a Patriots trip to the Superbowl so it was probably a love letter to Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy coming out to your blog. =)
LOL That is too cool, M.J. I love my Bears so I know how you feel about the Pats.
DeleteI love it when you visit here. Your comments always leave me smiling.
You inspired me to go back and look at my first post EVER.
ReplyDeleteWow I'm an old-timer. My first post was on August 3, 2005!!!!
I used to blog about the crazy/funny side of science, and it was a post on a neat invention called the bumper dumper. I'm sure you can figure out what this invention is.
That's awesome, Jay! Science is one of my favorite topics. I'd love to read about that bumper dumper. ;)
DeleteNew follower! *waves*
ReplyDeleteI was tentative in my first blog posts, too. Blogging has truly helped me develop my voice.
And, WE are thankful for YOU, Melissa!
DeleteKathy M.
Hi Emily! Thanks for the follow. :) I think blogging has really helped me find my voice as well. When I first started there was tentative aspect that has since been kicked to the curb. ;)
DeleteAww...thanks Kathy! I'm so happy we connected here in the blogosphere. I love your comments very much.
Congrats to Siv and her first blogging anniversary.
ReplyDeleteI realized I've never read your first-ever blog post, but I must say, it's just as brilliant as all the others you've written over the past two years. And what a magnificent choice of words! Very impressive!
I agree with Maynard, you never forget to drop by and leave a comment. I don't know how you do it, but I'm glad you do it. LOL.
WE LOVE YOU!

DeleteAww.. thank you so very much. :) I love you, too. You are all my friends and I love visiting you guys because you have become my online family.
DeleteI suppose I was a late comer, but I've enjoyed every minute I've spent here. Always entertaining.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rusty, I'm so happy you enjoy coming here. I'm glad we hooked up through Alex's blog. He's the coolest Ninja.
DeleteAww, the nostalgia sets in. Looking back at that seed of potential, tracing our blogging beginnings, we start to realize, with infinite passion, how far we've truly come. I"m proud of you, Mel. And I'm more proud that I can call you a friend. I enjoy my visits to your corner of the virtual world. Keep up the peerless work :)
ReplyDeleteWow, thanks Matt! That means a lot to me. I'm proud to call you my friend as well. We do rock the movie conversations. You are one of the very few who shares my passion for classic films. I love that I can say Howard Hawks or George Cukor and you know right away who I'm talking about.
DeleteI love your first post - you almost seem like you're scratching one toe in the sand as you look down shyly - and have you ever stopped that since! My first post was a typically wordy Me-Fest - but a journey of 10,000 posts starts with one Publish. We started at roughly the same time - can you imagine how the Internet felt that month - the Imaginarium goes online and then that wild voice cried out "Let's Get Out of Here!" for the first time! We're lucky we didn't break the damn thing!
ReplyDeleteLOL Nope, not shy anymore. The monster has been unleashed. You know, Craig, I think there was a sonic boom that day. We have made the blogosphere quite a hot spot to hang haven't we?
DeleteYou did a great job. I can't remember my first post, but I remembered how terrified I was that first few months. :)
ReplyDeleteCute badge for the Trollfest. Your first post was a friendly invitation to spend time with you. Don't have my first ever post thanks to phishing.
