Inspired by Alex Cavanaugh's and Matthew MacNish's Pay It Forward blogfest last week, I have now decided to do my own weekly You Should Know feature. I'm going to be posting links to fave blogs and why I love them. Many of them are friends old and new, but all of them are sites I adore and know you will too. So for my inaugural You Should Know post I give you one of my very favorite peeps and one of the coolest movie review guys ever...
CineMarvellous! Known around the blogosphere as Nebular, George is a true cinemaniac. His knowledge of films, directors, styles and genres is astounding. He goes into detail about pacing, cinematography, costumes... Many things that a lot reviewers don't discuss. He also specializes in horror, my fave genre. George gives it to you straight with the good, the bad, and the abysmal. So go, visit him now. He's got an incredible review of the new Three Musketeers film.
I have some announcements, too. In the coming weeks I will have incredibly cool author spotlights, starting with the always amazing Jessica Bell on November 3rd. I have some books reviews coming soon including Kelley Smith's Glittering Ashes, Alexander Hammond's Brief (Case) Encounters, Julia Smith's Saint Sanguinus, as well as a couple of others. It's going to be exciting! I will also be celebrating Halloween all week next week as well as participating in the Internet Book Fair Blogfest on Tuesday, October 25. The awesome M.A. Leslie is sponsoring this and I found out through my favorite Alliterative Allomorph, Jessica Bell. So if you have a book to sell or just want to get out there and find some great books go participate.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
Great new feature, MB! CineMarvellous lives up to its name - Nebular's stuff is well written, leaps genres in a single bound, and communicates his love of movies with every word on screen. Great choice!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the Internet Book Fair Blogfest - getting the word out on cool books is always a worthy endeavor!
It's a Huzzah all around!
A great choice indeed! Nebular is a cool and nice guy, and his blog is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful blogs in the whole movie-blogosphere.
ReplyDeleteooh, haven't visited Kelley Smith in a long time, must do that now!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of book fairs, the biggest book fair at the Balkans starts tomorrow at Belgrade, and me is having 8 new books released there and about 10 old ones too :)))
@Craig Thanks! I was really inspired last week and I figured it would be a great way to share something great with my Imaginarians.
ReplyDeleteGeorge really does do an incredible job at his blog. I just love his reviews.
@Maynard Oh man do I love George's graphics and colors. It's lush, like a botanical garden of the imagination.
ReplyDelete@Dezz Yay for you on the releases!!! I know you are going to garner lots of sales and get some great new business.
ReplyDeleteKelley is is so awesome. I'm very excited for her book. :)
What a cool concept. Wish my next book Opening was ready to go. I'll check it out. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMel, thank you so much for the mention and the lovely description of men. It was a great surprise and made me feel so happy! :)
ReplyDeleteActually, you were my first choice for PIF blogfest, but then I thought: Let's give less-known blogs a chance. Mel is brilliant and she needs no introduction. Now I regret I didn't choose your blog as one of my picks. I'll pay back, that's for sure!
I feel terrible, because I forgot to put your (and Alex's) new book cover on my blog. How could I?!?
I hope I didn't come across as selfish and uninterested. You both have done so many great things for me, this is the least I can do.
George's site is THE BEST movie blog on the Internet, bar none. Excellent choice, Melissa!
ReplyDeleteI'm not participating in th book fair, but I'm plugging it for Jessica on Monday.
@Stephen Thanks!! Hope you have a great weekend as well.
ReplyDelete@Nebular Aww.. I'm so glad you liked this. You really do have such a fantastic blog and you are one of my very favorites.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thank you for the compliments. You are so sweet. :) You don't ever have to worry about being thought of as selfish and uninterested. You have always been a great friend and supporter to me and for that I am grateful.
@Alex I know, right? George's blog is truly one of the best. I love reading his reviews and I learn something every time, even when he and I disagree about a movie. LOL
ReplyDeletewhew! busy days are a'comin!
ReplyDeleteHe is a great writer and have enjoyed many of his posts, great writer, and love the idea of this blogfest, friendly and warming, much like yourself Mel x
ReplyDelete@Demps Aww... you're making me blush. Thank you! And yes, George has a great style and that's why I love reading him so much.
