Happy Hump Day!! I know I'm posting very late, but...hey it's still Hump Day all day, right? So what's been going on with me? well, I've been sick, trying to work, trying meet deadlines and just generally been bogged down with Life. I did manage to watch a few flicks, but the only one worth mentioning is Perks of Being A Wallflower. What a terrific, poignant film with an outstanding cast. I loved it as well as the book. Ezra Miller is completely moving as Patrick, a gay student who engages in a forbidden first love affair with the high school quarterback who won't leave the closet. The best part of this for me was the fact that the author wrote his own screenplay as well as directed. Talk about a triple threat! Needless to say I am very impressed with Stephen Chbosky.
I've also been working on some scenes for a sequel to my first M/M story, Nathan's Angel. In this one Nathan must find a way to redeem himself for a bargain he made in the first story with a very bad angel.
So are you all excited about the royal birth? Convinced that Kate is a robot? Seriously, who looks that good after giving birth? Then again, when one has a team of people at the ready... Anyway, I think it's pretty cool, but not to the point where I think Kate is the first mom ever. Like when Kim and Beyonce gave birth and everyone started clamoring for mommy advice from those two. I don't even think so. LOL I wouldn't trust Kim to take care of a robot dog let alone anything alive.
Football training camp has opened for Bears and I could not be happier. I love, LOVE football and can't wait to park my rear in front of the couch this Fall. Here's hoping with our new coach we smash the Packers. They are the worst team to lose to for me. I go into apoplectic fits during the game and have been know to weep inconsolably after a loss to the hated Green and Gold. Notre Dame will also be starting back up, my Fighting Irish are looking pretty good so far, I must say. Ahh.. the preseason dreams of glory. ;)
So how was everyone's weekend? And how is your week so far? Oh and before I forget, I will be having a special announcement here on Friday so stay tuned.
Not my kind of movie but glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteYes, football season!!! Preseason starts soon. Although not soon enough. Anything to give the sports guys something to talk about besides baseball. Although Sharknato's appearance at a recent game made it much better.
Good to hear from you. Melissa.
Hey Alex, my captain!! Just went to visit your blog, it's been a while since I've been by. I know what you mean about pre-season not starting soon enough. I am waiting with baited breath. Sharknado at baseball is hilarious!
DeleteThe book is on my to read list...been recommended by several friends. Didn't know the premise, though.
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes to football! I'm a die-hard Bronco fan so we should probably not discuss football...too much history between our teams personnel wise...LOL. And I love the Packers...so let's just talk about something else!
Tina @ Life is Good
Hi Tina!! LOL Yes, we do have personnel history, don't we? I do have a soft spot for the Broncos, though. But we will never, ever mention the Pack. :)
DeleteI hope you get a chance to read Nathan's Angel. I loved writing the story and one of my most favorite characters that I have ever created is part of the cast.
So glad you're back and I'm sorry you were sick Melissa. I said the same thing! Except for the baby bump you'd never know. Happy hump day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Maurice! Baby bump? Are you going to be a daddy? Congratulations!!
DeleteHi Melissa! Pass on movie, but I'll be happy when football begins. My father-in-law is a big Bears fan. He's from Chicago.
ReplyDeleteAwesome Diane!! I love to hear about fellow Bears fans. :) Isn't football so much fun?
DeleteGlad you're feeling better - missed you round the round! I'm glad you enjoyed the movie - probably won't be watching that one. Go football playing players! Can't wait for Friday now!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Craig! Perks is definitely a movie you have to be in the mood to watch, I'm hoping to catch The Conjuring this weekend. Can't beat a horror film. LOL
DeleteHi Melissa, you're so right about Kate! I'm a first time mom as of 8 weeks ago. I've been so preoccupied with baby I have barely had time for anything else. I certainly was not up walking around the day after the baby was born.
ReplyDeleteBig Bears fan here too! I grew up in Chicago. Left when I was 18, but it's still my hometown.
Congratulations, Mariah, that is AWESOME!!! You are going to be one of the coolest moms ever for sure. :)
DeleteHigh fives fellow Bears fan Whoo Hoo!!
I bet Nathan's sequel will have lots of steamy scenes :) Wouldn't it be nice if the little prince turns out gay and we get first gay king in the future LOL
ReplyDeleteA gay king would be very cool, I think :) And you know I'm going to have lots of steam, baby. :P
DeleteI really need to see The Perks of Being A Wallflower, I've heard nothing but good things about it.
ReplyDeleteFunny about the royal baby, I told my wife the same thing about how Kate looked the next day.
We suffer through the same reaction to losing to the fudgepackers. New season new start, color me ever hopeful!
It really is a terrific film, Daniel. I think you'll enjoy it very much.
DeleteLOL, she has to be a robot, i swear. But, that team of hers must be incredible.
Fudgepackers...LMAO!! Fist bumps, my friend. Yeah, I have hopes that our new coach can work up a mean attitude towards the Pack. Lovie really couldn't manage it.
Is it on Netflix? I need something new to watch...
ReplyDeleteYeah for more Nathan's Angel.
I was hoping they'd name the baby Mack Truck or Saltine or something. And I can't believe they were already commenting on Kate's weight this morning. Jeez!
As a recovered Bills fan, I've pretty much given up on football.
The film poster is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm not so excited about the royal baby thing, but there are plenty of Aussies who are. Well done for making progress.
I'm glad things have gone well for Kate, Will, and little George but I wish the World would leave them the hell alone. I bet they wish the same.
ReplyDeleteHope you're feeling better, Melissa. (May I call you Mel? I keep wanting to. In Portuguese, and other languages, Mel means honey. Ain't that sweet? Like, literally?) (I'm rambling?) (Uh...yes, it appears I am...)
