Friday Fun 80's Style

It's Friday, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!!! I am excited for the week to be over. Because of the weather, I got behind in many things. I am still making my way through comments, so please forgive me if I have not responded or visited yet, I will very soon, my friends. You are all very important to me.

Today I'm going to have some fun and share a little of my 80's childhood. Before Steven and my Boys from Boston, Aerosmith, there was a boy band that owned me heart and soul. 5 sexy lads from Britain known as Duran Duran. To say I was in love with them is like saying Alaska's just a tad cold in the winter. I was OBSESSED. I had a 6 foot by 5 1/2 foot poster of them on my bedroom wall. I had the buttons, the notebooks, the tee shirts, the pencils and all other manner of paraphernalia that had those lovely lads on them. Even a pencil case. Yikes!

I spent junior high rushing home to watch the after school jam show on my local station to catch their videos. Like this one...

And yes, before Johnny Depp there was another man. The sexy dark-haired student of Mr. Miyagi, one Ralph Macchio aka Daniel-san. OMG, was he a hottie. Lord, did I obsess over him, too. Just look at that feathered hair!

I had his posters, his pictures plastered in my locker amidst the ones of Duran Duran. So, I really can't be too hard on the Bieber girls and Robert Pattinson freaks. I'm right up there with them, only a couple of decades older.

Anyone else out there care to admit to teenage crushes and music obsessions? Come on, you know you want to. LOL Have an awesome weekend.

  2. I had (and still have) a crush on Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) and had a huge poster of her in my room. It's o.k..my wife knows :)

I really liked Duran Duran's music back in the 80s. Hungry Like the Wolf is still one of my all time favorites.

I always love reminiscing about the good old 80s, thanks for the post :)

Hungry Like the Wolf is one song that will get me going any time. I still love it even though I am more of an Aerosmith girl now.

I'm so happy you enjoyed my trip down Aqua Net Lane. :)

  3. Dear Lord, not the feathered hair!
I don't remember many posters or anything of women. (I might've had the Farrah poster because what guy didn't?) I did have a huge crush on Erin Gray when I was a teenager though. Never missed an episode of Buck Rogers for that very reason.

  21. Hi Melissa,

I'm responding to your Walking Dead observations that you left on my blog:

I think I would be disappointed if Andrea killed the Governor. He's a great villain, and either Maggie or Michonne should get dibs on the Governor. I'm hoping it's Michonne.

There's no way that Rick would have shot the Governor, and there's no way he'll turn Michonne over to him. I wrote a post a few weeks ago where I compared Rick to a paladin in Hell. That's exactly how he is. His nature is Lawful Good (in Dungeons and Dragons terms) and he does right by the people who do right by him. Really, Rick drives the story as we see this noble former policeman deal with a world that has essentially become the abyss. I think if he were to abandon his path, it would seriously hurt the series. We can count on Rick's moral compass and to do the right thing.

I'm wondering if some of the folk who live in Woodbury are going to stray from the Governor's path once they see how evil he is. That would include Hector (I think that's his name) and Milton. Milton would certainly like to work with Hershel and Hector seemed to form a respect/begrudging bond with Daryl.

I predict either Maggie or Glen's death before the season is over. This show doesn't promote that kind of happiness and seeing them together and admittedly so much in love is like a bullseye for the writers. My guess to be different is they will kill off Glen, leaving Maggie pregnant with his baby.

    1. Hi Michael,

I think it be Michonne if anyone but Rick does the Governor in. Maggie doesn't have the fortitude. Just look at how Glenn's violence and darkness is scaring her. I don't think that they will kill off Glenn and they can't do another pregnancy story, that is just too trite. I mean we did just have the whole Laurie thing. If anyone dies, it will be Andrea. She's not a fan favorite and her morality is all over the place. Plus her story time has been cut. She wants shelter and a man, a stereotypical female response. I say she goes, if they kill off another major character.

  22. We must share the same brain. I've decided to do my A-Z Challenge posts on the 80s!

Here's something that will freak you out: Ralph Macchio today is the exact same age Pat Morita was when he portrayed Mr. Miyagi in the first Karate Kid. (Verified)
