Quick Hits

Yikes! I can't believe its Thursday already. Where has the week gone? I have been up to my eyeballs in work every day so far and I've been going crazy. But, it's far better than no work at all. Anyway, I just wanted make a quick post  and tell you all a few things before I head into the office.

First, my short article on Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is live over at Static Multimedia. You can check it out here. You'll note my name isn't there, but that's because there is a formatting glitch so they have added a page for each contributor, which is awesome. They hope to get it fixed soon.  My page is here with all the rest of my articles for them. Anyway, I loved the ALVH novel and can't wait to see the film.

If you love the movie Black Rain, my good friend Brent over at Criminal Movies as written an excellent essay breaking down the film. You can check it out here. He gets some spectacular discussions going over there.

Did anybody catch the "teaser" trailer for Breaking Dawn, Part Who The Hell Cares? Neither did I. You know, I wonder if Marvel is going for the Twilight crowd since Andrew Garfield, the new Spiderman, looks remarkably like R Patts. Maybe it's the hair...

  1. My experience of Garfield so far is that he seems to be pretty whiny and "oh poor me" so I'm in 2 minds about Spiderman.

Lincoln Vamps looks awesome though; I can't wait!

    1. I'm torn about Spiderman myself. I don't think it's going to do as well The Avengers, which was just a shock to all. I can't believe it's the Number 3 film of all time.

ALVH is going to rule! I think it's going to be a lot better than most people are thining it will be. The trailers look spectacular.

  2. Just finished the book and thought it was good. They aren't releasing Abraham Lincoln for reviews until today though. Never a good sign.

    1. Well, at least they are releasing it for review. It's bad when they don't release it all.

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Have you read Grahame Smith's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies? That was awesome. :)

  3. Garfield is to me a male equivalent to Keira Knightley wench, while RPats is the male zombie coldness equivalent to Natalie Portman :)

    1. LMAO! Dez, you certainly know how to skewer these people but good. You have a brilliant turn of phrase my friend and I could not agree more.

  4. It's definitely the hair.

I haven't seen the trailer for Breaking Dawn, which is too bad because I find they're always good for a laugh.

    1. I know, right? That hair is almost identical and it looks ridiculously messy.

Yes, those Twi light clips are some of the most hilarious pieces ever filmed. I love when they mash them up with other videos. That is some crazy funny stuff.

  5. Can't wait to read you article at Static Multimedia! I'm kind of excited about Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, because I like Bekmambetov's style, so I'm curious about your thoughts on it.

    1. I'm so glad you loved my article over at Static and left me such a wonderfully warm and enthusiastic comment. Made my night.

I hope to see ALVH this weekend and perhaps get a review up ASAP.

  7. I'm with you on Breaking Dawn. What a waste of celluloid. And I desperately hope Marc Webb and Co. did not try to transform The Amazing Spider-Man into a Dysfunctional Twilight Extravaganza. It would be unforgivable.

    1. It would be a high crime against cinema and superheroes indeed if Marvel has turned Spidey into a mirror image of Mr. Glitter Fangs. And as far as being a waste of celloid, I completely concur. :)

  8. I saw the ALVH trailer when I went to see Prometheus. It looks really good. Probably the only vampire movie that could interest me.

Really? Another Twilight? I never even got through watching the first one.

    1. This trailer does look awesome. So much action and what an original tale. No reboot here that's for sure. :)

I never got through the first film or my attempt at reading the book. This cast of characters seems to just go on and on to the mindless boredom of the rest of us. To quote a good friend. "Close your eyes. It'll all be over soon."

  9. I had no positive feeling about TAS until I saw the trailer on the front of The Avengers - but it looked pretty good then. There will be some angst - it's part of the character thanks to Stan and Steve - but it looks like they finally got Spidey right in the costume scenes - total smartass. Still not sure if I'll see it in the theater. Cheers!
