Badass Bitches Part Deux

For those of us dying for Haywire to hit the bigs, our appetite for badass bitches will be whetted on August 26 when Colombiana, starring Zoe Saldana as an assassin hits theaters. It's going to be one hell of a ride. Check out this wild trailer.

Zoe plays a woman raised to be a contract killer after witnessing the brutal murder of her parents. A common theme, but it's with a chick so I am totally on board. Olivier Megaton directs this Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen co-written slice of late summer awesomeness. And you thought Zoe was badass in Avatar. She whips out the big guns this time. No bows, arrows and giant blue pigeons to get in the way.

  1. And she made for one tough and sexy Lt. Uhura in Start Trek!

  6. I actually didn't like the moody atmosphere of the movie. While I was watching the trailer, I was like... hm, this one probably won't be my cup of tea.
As for Zoe, she's charming, sexy and everything, but I'm a bit sick and tired of her. This girl stars in almost every movie, and it's a bit exhausting for usme and probably for her too. She needs a rest! If someone asks me: Name a movie that Zoe Saldana stars in, my answer would be - I could name the films Saldana doesn't star in, because it would be easier. LOL.

  7. Looks pretty cool. I even thought she was good in The Losers.

  8. @Alex She sure did! I can't wait for the sequel.

@Robyn There's nothing like being beautiful and badass. No trophies and arm candy here. :)

@Aelee Love Foxy Brown. Pam Grier is definitely a badass.

@Craig You're welcome! I'm totally on board with this as I think there should be more roles out there like this for women.

  9. @mood Giant Blue pigeons would make interesting film subject, wouldn't they?

@Nebular LOL And I think the horrid Olivia Wilde is cornering all the female roles in Hollywood.

This movie reminds me of Man on Fire and Traffic so I'm interested, plus, it's a badass bitch so I've got to see it. There are so few good roles like that for women.

@Ricky Zoe was awesome in The Losers. I can't wait to see what she does with this.

  10. ah, hell, Melsy, I was planning to do a Girl Power Monday tomorrow with COLOMBIANA and HAYWIRE trailers, and now you did it before me :) Now I need a backup plan for tomorrow!

  11. Nice; with this and Star Trek, I can see Zoe becoming a mainstay in badassery. We'll just forget about the blue pigeons :P

  12. @Dez Uh oh! Are you going to send the penguins in to get me? ;) I know whatever you come up with will be awesome.

@Jamie LOL I want to forget the blue pigeons as well. Zoe really is making quite the name for herself as a strong, badass woman.

  13. Wow, all I have to say is, that woman is so beautiful. I like that woman are used more and more as hitmen(nay, hitwomen) in movies. Is hitMEN now politically incorrect? Is it now hitperson? Or maybe we should go with murder for hire.

  14. She does seem pretty bad-A. <3 your newest follower :)

  16. Yay, for bad ass chics. Usually my main characters. :D

  17. She definitely looks cool, but she's a little on the skinny side for such a role in my opinion.

That's why I'm super excited to see Gina in Haywire. Gina could actually do some damage.

  18. @Clarissa Zoe sure is beautiful and I just go with assassin or killer for hire. It's easier on my beleaguered brain. :)

@Kelley Hi! Thanks for the follow. I appreciate the support and look forward to hearing more from you. :) Zoe is badass here and I can't wait to see this.

@Jules I say bring on the kick ass women. There are not nearly enough of them. It's so awesome to see women in roles that traditionally belong to men. :)

  19. @MPax Cheers for the badass chicks out there. And I love to write them, too. I'm definitely going to be checking out your books.

@msmariah Yeah, Zoe is on the thin side. You're right about how much damage she could really cause. But hey, she's got a big gun. :)I'm dying for Gina, though. I know she'll be doing some serious damage.

  20. Zoe Saldana is badass! :)
But her best roles are still Lt. Uhura and Neytiri.

  21. I'd definitely catch both Haywire and Colombiana. But I'm not sure when they'll be released over my side. I think Colombiana is fixed for a September release, so I might be checking this out first.

Will check your opinion of it later, since you get to watch this first during late August! :)
