I know what you mean, I've had book where I started off hating a character then there's that moment where you get an insight to them that changes your opinion. I hope thats happens with the story I'm currently reading, otherwise, it's off to the recycle bin like Sloane says.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04443736284850057306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7021635145002263987.post-84950559886995608952010-08-13T15:08:10.423-07:002010-08-13T15:08:10.423-07:00I've had that happen, too. I get that 'aha!' moment and see where the author is headed, and can appreciate the twist, or hook, or outright chicanery they just pulled on the unsuspecting reader - me :)KC Kendrickshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17710305809896296828noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7021635145002263987.post-73796298356398287852010-08-13T10:31:12.038-07:002010-08-13T10:31:12.038-07:00Thanks, Marie. I can suspend disbelief or follow along with a thin plot as long as the characters are great.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04443736284850057306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7021635145002263987.post-91856035701195901312010-08-13T10:00:44.934-07:002010-08-13T10:00:44.934-07:00Hi Melissa,
I feel for you, and it's happened...Hi Melissa,

I feel for you, and it's happened to me. I usually start skimming the book to see if the characters improve, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. If I can't get through the book, I sit down an start to figure out why - what did the author do that turned me off so much. And like Sloane the book goes into the recycle bin.

Characters are what make the story and if you don't like the hero or heroine then the story is not going to work for you.

Great post.Marie Tuharthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08140971635915166589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7021635145002263987.post-6582635619676228782010-08-13T09:39:43.624-07:002010-08-13T09:39:43.624-07:00Thanks, Sloane! The only thing I did was throw the book in the recycle bin because I didn't want to plague anyone else with the damn thing.:)Sloane Taylorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05455715196493185203noreply@blogger.com
